Stress Free Wedding Planning

How to make your wedding day stress-free

We all know planning a wedding can be stressful especially if you don’t have a wedding planner. I have put together some amazing tips to check off as you go to help make the process a little less stressful. These are some tips and tricks I have seen done at weddings that I have seen to be most helpful and really help to keep things organized so you don’t have to on your wedding day.

Stress-Free Wedding Ideas

  • Provide bags or baskets for your Wedding Party

Give each member of your wedding party a bag or basket with their name on it to store all of their things in on the wedding day.  Not only does this make a great gift that can be used again – it helps keep the space you are getting ready in de-cluttered, helps everyone keep their belongings straight, and makes it easy to get from the salon to the wedding ceremony location to the reception – but also makes my job as a Portland Maine wedding photographer easy to get the best shots.  This way there are no items in the background, no one loses a bra and your photos will be immaculate – just like the rooms you are using.

Surprisingly this is easily one of the best ways to make your wedding day stress free. You don’t have to deal with lost items and things astray.

  • Plan Transportation Ahead of Time

You and your wedding party need to get to a series of locations during the day.  Make sure no one gets left behind and arrange for carpooling or special transportation.  In addition – you’ll want to make sure each of the drivers has addresses and directions.  If you want to go an extra step – send all of this information and an itinerary for the day to your wedding party the week before the big day.  This way no one is asking you at the last minute what the plans are.

  • Don’t Forget Your Marriage License!

I’d say this is one of the most forgotten items on a wedding day.  Make someone in charge of keeping it and making sure it gets to all of the right places AND back in your hands after the wedding day is done.

  • Hydrate! Make your body stress free

Make sure you have plenty of water on hand for the wedding day.  As a rule – make sure each person drinks at least 3 bottles of water that day and if it’s on a hot, summer day – double this.  Make sure to have water available in the limo or party bus too.  The last thing you need is someone who is dehydrated! ( MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU KNOW!) TIP** Make your wedding day stress-free!

  • All By Yourselves

When creating your schedule for the day – don’t forget to schedule in about 15-20 minutes for JUST THE TWO of you together.  NO one else is there (unless you would like me as your photographer there to capture the moment) and it’s just you two.  Remember – the day is about the two of you after all! Keep that at the forefront of the day.

  • Be Prepared

Great Ideas

Make sure to create an “emergency kit” for your wedding day with a few of the essentials like a sewing kit, dress tape, aspirin, safety pins, static cling spray, scissors and a tide-to-go stick.  This way nothing will get in the way of having your day perfect.

  • Watch the Gifts

Put someone in charge of overseeing the gifts, delivering them to someone’s car or to your home prior to your wedding day.  The last thing you want at the end of your reception is to have to worry about the gifts!

  • Thank Your Vendors

The vendors you hired to help create your day worked hard to make sure everything was just as you wanted.  Earn extra bonus points by leaving a review on their website within 1-2 weeks post-wedding. PLEASE leave me a review on Google and Facebook! it helps me tremendously!

  • Enjoy!

Last but not least – remember to take a deep breath and ENJOY your wedding day!  This is the day to celebrate you and your fiancée.  It’s easy to get caught up in the details and maybe the drama but at the end of the day, it’s about you and your love for each other.  Remember that and let everyone shower you with their love.
